Held each year in Las Vegas, Nevada, the SEMA Show is an industry event for the Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association.
Tuners and parts suppliers from across the industry and even from the realm of motorsports come to show off their wares, usually displayed on some sort of eye-catching highly-modified vehicle - be it a muscle car, hot rod or sport compact car.
And let's not forget the increasing presence of mainstream manufacturers like Hyundai, Scion, Honda, Ford, Chevrolet, Cadillac, Chrysler and Dodge. Major areas of interest at SEMA include Racing and Performance, Wheels and Tires, as well as Trucks, SUVs and Off-Road vehicles.

Breaking: General Motors Will Begin to Repay Government's $6.7 Billion Loan |
|
Nov 16, 2009 - 11:16 AM - by Administrator
|
In a surprising move, General Motors has announced that it will begin to pay back $6.7 billion in loans to the U.S. and Canadian governments, starting as early as December. GM wasn't required (or expected) to begin paying back the loan until 2015.
The news comes as GM releases its third quarter results with a loss of $1.15 billion. That number isn't good but is significantly less than the losses the automaker has been reporting as of late.
"It's a lot better than what we had expected," said company CEO Fritz Henderson in a conference call. "Nonetheless, it's a loss, and you cannot be satisfied with it."
Henderson also released a statement in which he said that, "We have significantly more work to do, but today's results provide evidence of the solid foundation we're building for the new GM."
The news comes after General Motors announced its October sales, with the auto-giant posting its first sales gain in 21 months.
The repayment process will begin with a $1 billion payment to the U.S. treasury in December, with a $192 million payment to the Canadian government. The $6.7 billion loan, is however, a small portion of what GM borrowed from the U.S government, with $50 billion in total coming from the... [Read More]

SEMA 2009: Kevin Morgan Designs Trans Am Makes Official Debut |
|
Nov 04, 2009 - 4:51 PM - by Administrator
|
The Lingenfelter Trans Am Concept wasn't the only TA on display at the 2009 SEMA Show, with Kevin Morgan Designs debuting its version of the iconic car. Based on a slightly more modern interpretation of the Trans Am, the Kevin Morgan car takes its cues from the 1977-'78 model and is based on the all-new 2010 Camaro.
The car certainly looks aggressive with a low slung front air dam and a massive gold Screamin' Chicken on the hood. And of course, there's a big ducktail spoiler and a stylish set of golf mesh wheels.
The team even went so far as to built a classic Pontiac logo into the car's new front end.
On the whole, we like it more than the Lingenfelter design, although the gold interior accents are definitely excessive.
Kevin Morgan Designs has announced a deal with the Trans Am Depot and is expected to start offering the Phoenix Trans Am conversion in the near future.
