Per capita income by state, 2005 data was the best I could find so quickly.

PA 34,897
FL 33,219
CT 47,819

Cost of living if you live in a state and make 3 times the poverty level how much do you need to make?

PA 76,807
FL 75,738
CT 92,433

So you make more in CT but you have to to break even.

Unemployment rate by state this one is a suprise:

PA 4.8%
FL 4.6%
CT 4.8%

Didn't realize it was that close. Florida is 29th in the country and Pennsylvania and Connecticut are tied at 30th. Michigan is 51 at 7.1, DC is included that's why there is 51.

State income tax

PA 3.07%
FL 0%
CT 3% up to 16,000 then 5% after that

Local income Tax

PA most places are 1% in the city of Pittsburgh it goes as high as 3%
FL 0%
CT I couldn't come up with it, but you'll be able to help me

AS far as property taxes, I have a 155,000 house here and pay 1650 per year, a friend in Pittsburgh has a similar sized house that is a 125,000 house there, he is paying just over 4000 per year in Allegheny county. It's about 1300 sf.

Gas tax

PA 26.7 per gallon
FL 29.6 per gallon
CT 29.7 per gallon

Road condition ranked by

PA worst 2 yr in a row and 5 in a decade
FL 2nd best roads in the US
CT buried in the middle somewhere where they don't talk about it
