I still believe Pontiac made a mistake discontinuing the Grand-Am. That was one reliable, popular car. It was also sharp looking. Pontiac got bored with the line and made a change and replaced it with the G6.
Chevrolet did the same with the Monte Carlo and replaced it with the Lumina. That failed and the Monte Carlo came back. I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happens with the Grand-Am. Totally redesigned I am sure and most probably it wouldn't command the popularity it once had.
GM tried to fix what wasn't broke and broke what didn't need fixed.
Even though there was a limited run of Grand-AM's for 2005 not all dealers could get them. 2004 was the "Official" last year for them. I got my wife a 2004 GT with the SCT and she will not part with it. At 30 mpg with a 3.4L V6 I don't blame her.
