I use to do a bit of porting and polishing and what I found with my customers was it increased top end alot, but low RPMs suffered from slow bottom end throttle response.
So performance increased but drive ability suffered slightly.

Thinking back those were all on carb`d units, perhaps a fuel injected unit would not experience that, or it may not be as bad.
