Posting Picture

For future pictures,

Set your camera to a lower size and/or quality setting, the best size for posting in forums is around 600 pixels wide.

Resizing

Here is how to resize your current pictures,

Open the picture, when your cursor in over the picture the properties of the picture will be displayed, a picture taken in a high quality setting may be as large as 2048X1840.

You will need to resize this picture to 600 pixels wide. I assume you are running Windows XP. Right click on the picture, select "open with" then select "paint". Your picture will be displayed, select "image" from the top tool bar.

Select "stretch/skew"

Now calculate the picture size,

600 pixels (desired picture size) divided by 2048 (actual picture size) equals ,29 or 29%.

Under "stretch" change 100 to 29 in the horizntal and vertical settings. Then select "OK"

Now select "file" select "save as" if you want to keep the original 2048 X 1840 picture, change the name under the "file name"

If you don't want to save the original skip the above instructions and select "save" verify the file type is a "JPG"

Hosting

Now you will need to download the picture to a host.
You can use the GTOforum gallery as a host or use www.imageshack.us.

Either one will provide you with a "Browse" selection, find the picture on your computer. select download.

GTOforum Hosting

If you are using the gallery the pictures are moderated and will have to be approved by a moderator prior to being displayed. Send me a PM and I will approve them for you. The gallery pictures will give you a "My GTO Photos" link under your avatar.

Now you will need the pictures actual url, this is not the url listed on the address bar of I.E.

Right click on the picture, select properties there you will find the actual picture url. I use copy and paste to get the url to my post.

Imageshack Hosting.

After downloading to image shack, you will be provided with several urls. I select the direct url.

Displaying pictures,

You will need to tag the picture for it display in you post. the actual tag has no spaces.

Place "[ img]" before the url and "[ /img]" at the end of the url. If you want the picture centered use "[ center] and [ /center] before and after the IMG tags.

example (do not use spaces in the tags)
[ center][ img]http://www.imageshack,us/12345678.jpg[ /img][ /center]

If you have any questions PM me.
