Could someone please fill me in on some things to look for when I go to see the car Saturday. Like how to tell if it is a true GTO and not a clone. Is there a certain digit (s) I need to look for in the vin # etc. Anything you guys think I need to look at or for will be very helpful. Some basics is it has 2 motors and one is supposed too be the original, it is a 4 speed car with bucket seats. I believe it is black on black. as well. Thank you in advance..New member here.

I have a 1965 GTO with several non-numbers matching parts, so I am thinking of installing tubular a-arms and coilover front shocks. Has any one had any experience with this type of change? I found some great looking coilover shocks on eBay for $425. Any opinions?

It's a 65 GTO 389/4 speed muncie. The body is solid, especially considering it's a Michigan car. Original paint and everything. Most everything is straight, except the drivers side door is a little messed up and interferes with the fender when opened. The interior is pretty well shot, the carpet is fine but the seats and headliner are junk. The floor has four smallish rectangular holes where a rollcage was once. Interestingly enough, it has a driveshaft loop and what looks to be a scatter-shield bell housing. He thinks the previous owner may have punched the engine to a 401 and built it with some go-fast parts. Currently it has an edelbrock intake with a 4 barrel on it. But he does have a complete tripower setup in the trunk! It's got open headers. I'm not sure if it was an original trip power car? I forgot to snag a pic of the vin tag.

It has been sitting in a shed of a barn for the last few years and hasn't ran in 2 years. He's owned it for six years and payed $6000 for it and that's what he wants back out of it.

Soooo, is it worth his asking price of $6000?

Making it into a 461 stroker. But I can atleast say the engine block is numbers matching to the car. In order to support the high torque of the 461 I need a very strong transmission. I have The original matching numbers M20. My question is can I keep the original matching numbers transmission case but replace the guts with a stronger m22 components or somehow make the m20 into a stronger transmission so I can keep the case and have the numbers matching case?

Hey guys, I've been stalking the forum half a year, last December I bought an '06 manual mostly stock (for now), but I have GOT to fix my suspension. I love the tires that came on it, but they are over-sized 235/40zr18 91w in the front and 255/35zr18 90w in the back. The wheel well / fender is eating into my side walls and I'm going to waste the rubbers in the back.. It also hits in the front on the inside of the fender (not as bad). I am pretty sure my shocks and springs are wore out, the car handles like crap.. It clanks and bangs on uneven roads and I am sick of shuddering in apprehension of it each drive. The car is close to 50,000 miles now.

So this is my plan in the very immediate future:

BC BR Coilovers
BC Racing BR Series Coilovers (Front and Rear)- 2004-2006 Pontiac GTO [ZB-2-BR] - $1,250.00$999.95 : MarylandSpeed.com- Your First Stop on the Way to Performance!

Energy Suspension bushing set
http://www.energysuspensionparts.com...prod=3%2E18134

Hotchkis sway bars
Hotchkis Sport Swaybars - 2004-2006 Pontiac GTO [2278] - $457.95$414.95 : MarylandSpeed.com- Your First Stop on the Way to Performance!

I am not sure what all else I need to complete that job, I assume I would still need the Whiteline options
on the coilover webpage for strut mount bushing, radius rod bushing, and upper shock bushings.... but only because I have NO idea what any of those parts are and I didn't see the exact same letters forming words in the energy suspension kit's 'included' details- lol

But I am also thinking I need pedders ball joints all around
Pedders Pontiac GTO Ball Joint - Tick Performance

My car squeaks (like a metal whine) at a specific RPM about 1800-2600 under certain acceleration, and I'm not sure if it is a 'GTO' sound or a ball joint sound, I never hear it when turning, the wheels feel solid on the road, but under specific acceleration I ALWAYS hear it (the wife thinks I'm crazy, only I hear it).

Could any of you pros let me know
1) if those are all good things to do to fix my problems and have a good setup.
2) if those are a good compromise for price/performance or if some lovells / pedders coilover kit is better, and where to find it for a good price.
3) if those are all the parts needed for the job I'm laying out or also if I am overlooking something else I oughta fix while under there.

I REALLY appreciate your help, I know there are a lot of similar posts, but I am looking for direct assistance on this setup as I am buying parts within the next week or two and really don't know more than just enough to be dangerous.

Thank you guys, and I apologize for the length,

-Aaron

Hello everyone, I am back with more questions. Need your expert advice in what to look for and how to trouble shoot a couple things. As you know, I purchased my first gto a couple months back and shipped the car to my godfather to store until I got home. Work has had me in France, and I won't get back home for another week or two.

I had my godfather take her out a few times to put some mile on her and make sure she ran good. He said for the most part, it runs and idle really good. However, he said he smells gas coming through firewall when stopped at lights, and when he really jumped on her, the throttle response is off or slow, he says it wines up before it actually takes off, but did say that once she goes, she goes quite strong.

When I bought the car, the previous owner had a new fuel pump put in and original carb rebuilt.

Sound off let me know what you think and what to look for in trouble shooting. I am guessing I may have to get the carb retuned and fuel pump checked for leaks, but I am far from a guy in the "know" so any help would be great.

Thanks guys.
