69 GTO interior door panel question

did they have special door panels for the ones that took the gto emblem? I mean was there a square recessed area for the emblem or did they just look recessed because the nuts pull them in. I have a pair without the emblems and was wondering if it would look correct to just add them to mine?

Well here is another strange problem. I am running dual Edelbrock 500 cfm carburetors on a Pontiac 400 c.i. engine that has a ram air 4 type cam, aluminum heads, and heat wrapped headers. The fuel is pumped from the fuel tank to the carbs by a Carter high volume mechanical fuel pump. The fuel lines run along the driver’s side frame and appear to be wrapped with some sort of cloth similar to the header heat wrapping. The fuel line is exposed (bare metal) from the rear mount of the upper A arm until the front mount, where a braided steel and rubber line connects, then it connects to the fuel pump inlet.

When the engine is first started the fuel pressure is between 5 and 6 psi. As the engine continues to warm up and reaches the 200 degree water temperature mark the electric fans turn on and the water temperature lowers and stays in the 190 degree range. At this time the fuel pressure lowers to around 3 psi and if the engine is allowed to continue to run it will drop to 0. If I increase the rpms the fuel pressure may or may not go back up. (The engine is idling right now at 950 rpms.)

When I shut down the engine for a few minutes and re start, the process repeats itself.

So what do you think, vapor lock, fuel percolation, messed up fuel pump, or what?

By the way the GTO’s engine is running while the car is parked in the garage.

All suggestions and comments welcome. Thanks.

Hello all. I should know this, but don't, and don't want to make a mistake.
Car: 1969 GTO convertible. Doing frame off. Replacing fuel tank and fuel lines.

Question:I had the entire motor rebuilt and see that the new fuel pump has one inlet fitting from fuel tank and one outlet fitting to the carb. The other spots are plugged.

The car has two stock fuel lines, one to the fuel pump and one return to the tank on the original stock set up. Do I need the return line or can i just run the single feed line with no return to the tank? Not sure if I'm asking that correctly. Thank you in advance. Jim :cheers

I have a 69 GTO that I just replaced my dash and put in a new dash harness. Everthing worked except the dash lights before I started and figured that burned out bulbs were the culpret.

Everything seemed to go ok when I pulled the old dash and swapped everything to the new one, however there is one problem. I don't have any dash lights or headlights. The taillights work but not the headlights or any of the dash lights. The warning lights, turnsignals (inside and out), heater control light and cigarette lighter light all work. I checked the connections and all seem to be tight and all the fuses are good.

Since I have tail lights and the other lights, just no headlights or dash lights, I believe the switch is good.

The light harness under the hood seems to be intact and worked before with the old dash and harness.

I'm a bit stumped. It has to be something simple that I missed but I can't figure it out.

Is there suppose to be a ground strap on the printed circuit or light switch? There wasn't one on either when I pulled them, but then again the old harness was hacked up pretty good by previous owners so it was hard to tell what was done through the years.

Any help would be apprciated, I'm really itching to get it back on the road while there is still some nice days left.

Thanks in advance,

Well as a lot of you know I have taken a 65 Tempest and resto modded it to something unique- I have run into a brick wall with what I thought was parts I had already-WINDOW FELTS-sweepers, fuzzies call them what you will but I cannot find them for a Tempest hardtop- I already had a set for a 65 GTO thinking that they would snap right in- nope, so I ordered another set that was advertised as fitting GTO,Lemans and Tempest hardtop -no dice- then I contacted Legendary and they had a set listed on their website to fit a Tempest hardtop- ordered them and they said 4 weeks- which turned into 10 and then a response from customer service that they had " no Idea when they would be ready" thanks guys. I was then directed to Performance Years where listed on their web site is a set of 65 Pontiac Tempest Hardtop window felts-" will not work on SEDAN- I get those in the mail and it says SEDAN right on the box- I call them up and turns out their website is BACKWARDS should read SEDAN ONLY. SO does ANYONE know of a manufactuer that makes these ( it is NOT PUI) or does anyone have a set that I can send to PUI so they can copy them?? Any help greatly appreciated.
The difference is the beltline molding( that the GTO has) and where and how the felts are secured to the door :(
