The funny thing about this comment is that the Edelbrock heads are patterned after the original Pontiac heads (I'm not sure how much of an improvement Jim Buttler has made on with his new head). The best aftermarket street cams use the factory Pontiac grind. Aftermarket intakes flow only slightly better than the factory units (like the heads, the aluminum aftermarket units are much lighter). And short of all-out race headers, the factory RA headers flow awesome and fit better than any aftermartket header.
Bottom line, technolgy has come a long way, but not all that much better than what the Pontiac Engineers developed way back when. All you have to do is look at Jim Hands wagon and you'll see how much potential that "old" technology really is capable of.
That's just my two cents though.
