Just tore my Hurst Competition+ shifter down for a cleaning, which was badly needed! The current shift stick is not correct for my 66, and requires that I lean forward to shift. The stick height is 11.75" with an offset of about 4". Part# on the stick is 6836

Anyone know which Hurst Stick works best on a 66 with center console?

I can tell you that the original factory shop manual lists a part number for the shift handle of 9789783. I would guess that could be either Hurst or Pontiac number. Don't know if I helped any but best I can do. My shifter is installed in the car so can't see part number stamping.SIZE]

Quick update... Hurst does not sell anything closer to "stock" dimensions than what I already have... AMES sells the entire shifter for $330, but not the stick only. Since mine works, this will go low on my list of priorties for this winter.
