GTO Post??????

Hello all, My buddy was just out in Arizona and was looking at some cars, he came across a 1967 Pontiac, It was black and a post car, the guy said it was a GTO. My question is did pontiac make post GTO's?????

According to GTO Alley they do list a post as a GTO body style in `67. They have production #s too. Maybe he could get all the info off the data plate and compare to GTO Allley to see what it was to begin with.

I have a 67 post car. the vin# begins with 2420 instead of 2421 for a hardtop. All 67 real GTO's have a vin starting with 242.

Yes....they are very desireable for high power, or racing, as the body is extra stiff due to the post.......

Hi. Yes, as you've heard, they did have a post model. They are more desireable and as the others have posted, the first five #s of the VIN would be 24207. I have purchased a GTO numbers book that has been a great reference in looking for a GTO. It is caled "Catalog of Pontiac GTO ID numbers 1964-74. It will give you ALL the info regarding trim, motor #s, data plate #s, rear-end #s, etc. You can also look up PHS (Pontiac Historical Society) online and print out a form to send in or fax with the VIN# and they'll provide you with all the info on that vehicle including motor, tranny, trim#s and all the options that came with that car. It's proven to be very helpful in purchasing a GTO.
