Type A trans fluid ?

Am going to drain my trans and converter , replace the trans filter , and refill . The 65 GTO automatic calls for type A trans fluid , which I cannot find anywhere . So the question is will Type F work just as well ? Or any other suggestions ?

Thank you ,
George

Yes, but so will Dexron II which replaced the 'A' fluid.

Go with the dexron II fluid. It is definitely better than Type F. I once had a Ford tranny rebuilt (Ford calls for type F) and was told to use the Dexron, that if I used type F they would not honor the warranty.
