1970 GTO Convertible for sale

1970 GTO Convertible for sale-100_1209.jpgWell the cars and projects are stacking up around here like cord wood, so I will reluctlantly offer my convertible up for sale. I purchased the car from a dealer who purchased the car from the estate of the original owner. I've added 5000 miles to it in the year and a half that I've had it. Current mileage is 130k. THe car was sold new at Boas Pontiac in San Fran CA and remained there until a dealer bought it and shipped it to FLorida. I had it shipped to Kansas City in early 06. As relayed by the selling dealer the car was repainted in 1986 and was other wise "maintained" as necessary-it hasn't been restored. Basically a survivor. Car has YS code 400, turbo 400, PS, Pdisc brakes, buckets, console, clock, Ptop, rally II's. Granada Gold, Black top and interior. Pretty basic as far as GTO equipment goes. IT is without question the best driving old car I've ever owned. I would drive it to the coast tomorrow.
Body/Paint-NO rust in trunk, floors, frame, fenders, doors, etc. There are a couple of very small bubbles on the quarters due to blocked drain holes from top gutter. They are too small to photograph but are there nonetheless. Fit and panel gap are good to average. Paint was a decent bodyshop job-good shine but some overspray, and sanding marks if you catch them in the right light. Minor chips and scratches from driving. Top is excellent and works well. I replaced the rally II's and whitewalls that came on the car with new Keystone's and Firestone RWL's (same as Two Lane Blacktop car). Car comes with both unless buyer doesn't want keystones. Car looks perfect from 5 feet.
Interior-nice original with minor wear on carpet, minor fading and wear on wood grain surfaces. No cracks in dash, no tears in seats. Everything works, even the key buzzer and clock. Unfortunatly the original owner's grandson talked him into installing a CD stereo in the dash and speakers in the door panels. I cleaned up the install aand swaped the unit for a retro looking piece from kenwood, but the original AM is MIA. I installed a reproduction wood wheel in place of the original but it goes with the car.
Mechanical-YS block, 13 heads, turbo 400 trans, 3.55 open rear. The VIN stamp on the block is too faint to read but I KNOW it is original. Everything is unmodified and it runs perfectly. Inner fenders and firewall were repainted with the car in too glossy black. Engine is faded blue, nice original chrome valve covers and air cleaner lid.
Misc-comes with warranty plate, PHS, owners manual, copy of original title, and business card from selling salesman. Original jack, trunk mat and spare.

I'm asking $35,000 for it. I'll consider a partial trade for interesting old car. NO motorcycles, boats, RVs, or late model vehicles. If you drive it you'll buy it! Call 816-729-7623.
