1970 Gto Judge Real Triple Black Hertz Car

I just wanted to make it clear that I am actually selling this for a close friend of mine here in the Kansas City area.

AWARD WINNING 1970 RAM AIR IV GTO JUDGE! THIS IS AN ORIGINAL TRIPLE BLACK (vinyl top, exterior, interior) HERTZ CAR PER THE PHS DOCUMENTATION! TODAY IT HAS BEEN FULLY RESTORED IN TO A MEAN GROUND POUNDING MACHINE! Please call Shawn at 816.308.0351.

This Judge is by far one of the most unique automobiles I have ever had the privilege of playing with. I tried my best to grab as many photos and as much video as possible so that I could display it but I truly do not believe there is anyway to properly justify how awesome this car is. It is really something you would have to see and feel in person in order to fully appreciate. Located below you will find video and an endless amount of photos. I just grabbed these photos and video on July 9th 2008 and I would like to apologize as we did not get a chance to clean it prior to taking photos as we were losing sunlight. We just pulled it right out of the enclosed trailer which is where it has sat since last year. Now I know I am going to receive lots of emails as to why this car was never restored back to its original specifications unless I address it now. I mean come on, how rare is a triple black 1970 Judge? Well, the reason it was never taken back in that direction is because the previous owners (pre-1995) had already began building it in the direction of what you see today. Today, she has a monster built 400 and runs 11:20's with ease. She's got only fifteen passes on her and less than 150 miles total on the entire car (drive train, suspension, everything). It would also take very little to make her completely street legal which is an option that we would like to leave on the table to anyone who might be interested in going that direction with her.

Body: The body on this Judge is solid and completely rust free. The only fiberglass through out the body consists of the front bumper, rear bumper, hood, and trunk lid. The grill has custom Lexan inserts. The quarters have been modified with an extra 4" span to make room for the wider tire setup. The Judge has also been tubbed as you will see located in the photos below. Both of the front fenders have also been modified by adding in Trans Am air extractors which give then car an awesome appearance. You will also notice that through out the internal body there has been some modification in areas to help reduce weight. All of the glass through out the car has been replaced with high end Lexan. The vinyl top is new and in excellent shape. All of the trim through out the car is also in excellent shape. The car is a factory GM blue which was done in a base coat clear coat. It is absolutely gorgeous and is of excellent quality.

Engine: The engine in this Judge is a fully built 400 which has been rotated, assembled, and balanced. It is mechanically sound and has zero problems. It does not smoke, leak, or make any odd noises. It is in excellent shape. The 400 transmission has also been completely redone and it too has zero problems. It shifts out smoothly and is in excellent condition. Here are more details about the motor as well as everything else through out the car:

Comp engineering adjustable ladder bars
Stock rear springs and Monroe Formula Shocks
Eight point roll cage
RCI seat plus a five way three inch belt setup
Autometer Monster Tach
Moroso fuel filter with stainless steel fuel line

Hooker 2 inch super comp headers
Hourecool aluminum radiator with B + M electric fan
JF2 four wheel disc brakes with Hurst Live Lock
Front wheels are Polished Centerlines 3 1/2x15 and the rear are 15x15
42x32 rear slicks
Car weighs 2800lbs
Running lights and outside mirrors

This Judge has had well over 50k invested in to it over the years and will definitely make someone extremely happy once they hear and feel it in person. For what we are asking, someone could definitely take it, strip it completely down and bring it back to its original state and then make a killing or they could get one hell of a toy. I can say this, you couldn't come close to building this car for what we are asking. One option I would like to throw out is if you would like this Judge street legal then definitely give me a call. I can have it taken care of within two weeks. I would also like to mention that this is in fact a real triple black Hertz car per the PHS documentation. Unfortunately we do not have any of the original equipment for this car. I will gladly listen to all reasonable offers and should the right one come along then I will in fact sell the car.

Asking price: 34k

Just curious. This was the first time I had heard of a "Hertz Car". I tried to do some research. Is this a car that was used as a rental car for Hertz? If so, does that make it more valuable?

Too bad someone cusomized the car. An original Ram Air IV Judge would be an awsome find for $34K. Still a very nice car though!!!

Yeah, I agree with the Hertz comment because I know that Hertz rented Shelbys for a short period in the Sixties (per the Speed Channel show on Shelbys I viewed recently), but did not know that Hertz also rented GTOs. Sign me up to buy a Ram Air IV Judge in decent shape for $34,000. Too bad that this car was modified the way it was. Nice in its own way, but a Ram Air IV Judge in original shape with a restoration. Hmm..............
