Okay, this last weekend it was actually nice and dry outside, after snow and -0 temps the last few weeks. So me and my supervisor from work decide to go out for a few runs. He drives an '06 GTO 6MT w/ JBA exhaust. I drive an '06 350Z Coupe 6MT stock. Going into it, I figured I'd lose by about 6 cars regardless of the race, from a dig or roll. Turns out, I was wrong. Here's the results:
Race 1- from a 25 punch to 120, he won by 4 cars. Shoulda been more, but he accidentally started in 2nd
Race 2- from a 10 roll to 100, he won by 3 cars
Race 3- from a dig to 95, he won by 3 cars
Race 4- from a 45 roll to 100, he won by 3 1/4-1/2 cars
All in all, they were some good runs. We were both really impressed w/ how well my car hung w/ his. A friend of mine has a twin turbo 350Z that the GTO driver wants to run. The TT 350Z beats me by about 7-8 cars depending on race length. Bottom line, unless you run into a Z that's heavily modded, race is in your favor big time, lol. Just thought you guys might enjoy the info.
Thanks for the info -- my next door neighbor has an 05 convertible that they think is reallllllly fast. I haven't seen him out and about anywhere except to and from home.
I had an 04 350z Enthusiast a couple years ago then got an S2000 before I traded it in on my 06 6MT goat in January. They are very different cars but I loved them all.
How was the S2000 to drive in stop-and-go? My '92 325i was big fun, as long as you were in the power band, above 3500-4000rpm's. Bellow that it was a dog.
Well fellas, I have a modded NA 03 350Z 6MT (avid forum member on 350z-tech.com), and I gotta say that I might be joining the Goat ranks sometime soon. Both cars have their pros and cons, but for my situation, I'm beginning to think the Goat might fit the bill better. The Z is a beautiful, well balanced car with a heavy aftermarket following, good gas mileage, good crash test ratings, sex appeal, and a great resale value. However, the Z lacks the power of the Goat, and it's too good looking. Granted, my exterior is modded, but I worry about driving my car in some of the rough locations in which I spend a great deal of my time. I don't barely ever get to drive it because I'm afraid it will get stripped, vandalized, or stolen. The Goat is not asthetically appealing to everyone, but it is to a car guy like me;-) and I'm sure it won't grab the negative attention of law enforcement and crooks the same way my Z does. The Goat also has the beautiful 400hp growling LS2, a beautiful interior, and is cheap right now(which is a good or bad thing depending on what position you're in). Anyway, just letting you guys know I might be a Goat owner soon. Any tips on what to look for? I've been reading threads on this site for a couple months, but you guys obviously know much more than me. Thx! Regards, Josh "Sabertooth" Fruth
