I was at a International car show in CT a few months back, they had a Concept Chevelle there. I was beautiful and had the LS2 Motor in it. The people there told me if the Camaro does well they might release the Chevelle in Late 2009. I want one NOW.

The one at the show was close to the pictures, but the hood seemed slightly longer and it had very tiny fins [ seams ] that went from the grille to the windows on the outer edge of the hood. The grill [ front end ] was more rounded off, also the car windows were completely blacked out so you could not see the inside at all. It did have a LS2 in the engine bay, They also had a Camaro there , I looked at it and left scratching my head. Seams were not straight, the rear side of the car reminded me of a 1969 Camaro, Big windshield and the smaller side and rear windows just did not look right to me. Kind of looked like they chopped the rear section of the roof and left the front alone.
Uh no! I rather find a Chevelle in decent shape and add the drivetrain of my choice and go from there. That way I wouldn't have to worry about emissions crap and I can go as radical as I want. Now that would be sweet.
O wow. Thats not fair. I can deal with new camaros, chargers, challengers, etc.. but bring back the Chevelle? Theres a dream come true, Both a GTO and a Chevelle in my garage side by side. But the question each morning would be "Which to drive?"
A little pudgy in the rear but, immediately recognizable as a Chevelle. If Bobby Lutz and the crew at Chevy ever put something close to this in production, I'd buy one. The 69-71 Chevelle is my personal weak spot when it comes to muscle cars.
LS2 or LS3 please. And a six speed auto with paddles in addition to the Tremec mixmaster dujour. And don't retro the interior. Gimme modern ergonomics, Nav, satellite radio, auto climate control, bluetooth, tilt & telescope, cupholders, etc. Make the shift knob a T-handle though. And gimme an outdrive rear end with a switch on the shift handle.
i'll take one with a well built 8.1 big block. or a 572. then i'll let those emission freaks suck on that tailpipe for 2-3 minutes. maybe even less would exact my revenge

It will be interesting to see how much it weighs. Even on the LX platform, if shortened 5", it should come in around 3800lbs, hopefully.
Assuming it shares the suspension with the current SRT-8, it should handle very well. There is NO LSD for the current SRT8s, hopefully the Challenger will have one.
Regarding pricing, it seems to be the same as the Charger/300C. Given the same content level but unique interior styling, the pricing is spot-on as well.
I'm looking forward to it along with the competitors!
