First run with GTO...

R/T : .161
60' : 2.182
330 : 5.937
1/8 : 8.916 / MPH : 83.20
1000 : 11.465
1/4 : 13.600 / MPH : 104.91

First time ever running GTO at the track, outside temp. was about mid 70's. In South Central FL. Now the question : WHAT DO YOU THINK? Good / Bad?

There were two other GTO's running. One was an 06 M6, ran a 13.5 @ 107 the first run, and 14.3 @ ??? on the second run (bad launch), the other was an 05 M6, with drag radials, cams & headers... couldn't launch right either and ran 13.0 @ ???. I don't think I did that bad. One of my friends said that same 06' ran an identical time to me his first run.

You did great. The 60' needs some work. On street tires I was getting a pretty consistant 2.06-2.08. I did that by lowering the tires to 24-26 lbs, playing by feel and results. The .1 in the 60' will get you .2 at the end. Also not sure what RPM's you are launching at but try about 1800-2200 depending on how sticky the track is. Do a fairly quick take-up on the clutch adding power to keep the tires lightly spinning. Once you are at 3500-4000 rpms you allow the tires to hook and get into the throttle the whole way.

Something else, your speed seems on the low side. Did you let the car cool down real good? The other GTO's 107 mph trap is closer to where it should be. Mid 70's my GTO was trapping 107-108 as long as it was cooled down long enough. Try removing the rubber hoodscoop plugs and take the fuel rail covers off. You would be amazed at how much heat those two things trap. In 45 minutes the car will be about 10-15 degrees cooler in engine temperatures when opened up.
