Ls1 Gto A4 Vs Ls2 Gto A4

I have a stock LS1 GTO A4. On Saturday night I met a guy who has a stock '06 A4. Every Saturday night a bunch of performance cars import and domestic join up to shoot the breeze for a few hours. A little after midnight I was headed home and guess who was on the same route.

I plan of modding my car and I definitely wanted to see the difference between the LS2 and LS1. Once a stretch of highway opened up we both hit and immediately the LS2 started pulling. I'd say he was ahead by 3-4 cars before we shut down. The second and last race was from a dig on a "deserted" road and we both were spinning the hell out of the tires through 1st gear but once the '06 A4 got traction it was over pretty quickly.

To me the LS2 seems a little more violent and edgy with it's auto trans compared to mine. I mean the '06 A4 was able to chirp 2nd pretty easily while mines couldn't at all.

My question is with intake, exhaust/h-pipe, headers/midpipe, and a handheld tune yall think I can catch the LS2 A4??

Headers and a (laptop or dyno) tune and you should be able to at least hang with him.

Well I don't want a dyno tune because I have a warranty and I want to keep it. Handheld is the only way to go. Shoot headers is pushing it.

A friend of mine has a 2001 Z28 with the exact mods you are describing. He put 348RWHP with his 6M. That's pretty close to what a 6M LS2 dynos at.

My guess is they would be within spitting distance of each other in a race.

i'd give the edge to th z28 due to weight although mine dynoed about 31 horses lower than that but that was on a mustang dyno.

someone was saying that a maggie doesn't void the warranty but that was on another forum. i only have a few more months before i'm out of my wimpy 3 year 36k mile warranty. only lasted like 1 year and 4 months then it's off to double the power to the ground...

Another thing to consider is that an 01 Z28 Camaro has less power out of the factory than 04 or 05 GTO but is lighter all around. My friend did all of those mods too and was pumping out 385-390 hp at the wheels. But what really made the difference along with those mods is a torque converter with a trans cooler and shift kit. That will easily shoot you past an 05/06 A4 cause it'll deliver a sling shot to the wheels and man the response is great. I would recommend a Vigilante torque converter. He was running 12.2-12.5 quarter miles with no sweat. That should be something to think about.

You do realize that is 100% incorrect right?

The LS1 had 350bhp no matter what it was in Vette, GTO or F-Body. The C5 had a slightly better exhaust but in the end it was the same.

As a matter of fact I have had two LS1 Camaro SS's one M6 the other A4 and a 2006 GTO M6. The M6 was a 2000 with the OE SLP cat-back and I added Blackwing/SLP lid and filter and also a SLP Y-Pipe. The A4 was a 2002 and had the same induction and cat-back added. My 2000 M6 was faster than my GTO and my 2002 would get edged out by a LS2 M6.

So basically 300whp in a 3400lb F-Body is equal too 350whp in a 3700lb GTO.

Actually I have everything but LT's now. I have Predator(custom tune), K&N Cai, Borla Catback, and Kook Stepped Headers is coming up next. With the mods I have now I raced my friend again and this time I stayed ahead up to about 85-90 before he started to come by. I'm sure with LT's and another tune I'll be in good shape.

To "Silversport with the way gas prices are a Prius wouldn't be a bad idea for a daily driver
