this one's for you Ferg...

So I was coming back from the gym in the cavy (04 2dr LS Sport 5sp) get to a light with an integra (probably a 95-98) with an exhaust, and soon to find out intake...so I was kinda ready for a run, so I timed the light well, but didn't go after it at all when he didn't jump, but after shifting into 2nd at about 4K I hear him gun it...so i'm at about 4K in second I put it to the floor (4 banger...not going anywhere too fast) so he starts closing the car I had after the light turned green (neither racing up to that point) he gets almost even (he was still in first at the time), I hear his engine screaming, and as I approach 6K I start pulling away...obviously it wasn't a gsr, but still surprised I had him from about a 20 roll...note to GTO drivers...watch out for cavaliers!

The kills just keep mounting for these awesome performance machines.

Really though, the tuner crowd really doesn't give the Ecotech powered Cavalier and Sunfire the respect the car deserves. They easily outrun stock Civic Ex's, Corolla's, Scion TC's and Acura RSX's. I've beaten 3.8 Camaro's at the strip with mine and last gen Mustang's with the 6cyl go down too. I also beat a friend of mines automatic 1997 Mustang GT.

Bone stock the Ecotech Cavalier runs a 15.6-15.7 1/4 and with a good intake and exhaust they'll run a 15 flat. That's RSX type S, Sentra SER Spec V, Civic SI and Rabbit GTI territory.

got me thinking about throwing an intake and exhaust on er...as long as the exhaust isn't a fart can....I think Borla and magnaflow make exhausts for it...

I've heard the Magnaflow on an Ecotech. It sounds very deep and nothing like a fart can. Problem is it's a bit over $600 for the exhaust, plus labor to install. I'm not interested in spending that much on my running around scooter.

Keep up the kills. LOL

definitely an underestimated engine. not an LS1 but they're fun. Alot more agreeable to my tastes then a 1.8 vtec..

I didn't know they made intakes and exhausts for these cars. Are there parts for my 99 malibu with the 3100 engine?

I don't mean to thread jack you, nice kill Bowdy.

Ferg, thanks so much, those links are really helpful. My car has just over 100k so I think messing with the engine is a bad idea. In light of that I have decided to lower my car, get an intake, and try to find whitewalls. Any idea where those could be found?
