STI on highway

Sup folks, I have an 05 M6 GTO - I was getting on the freeway earlier tonight and was right behind an STI, passed him at one point and noticed him on my left after i just hit 65mph.......he asked if i wanted to go from a roll and he would count it off, i dropped to 3rd at about 60 and waited for his honks.....(i hesitated after the final honk since this was my first STI race) but we stayed neck and neck through 3rd and as soon as i shifted into 4th i was 2 cars ahead and when i was about 4 cars ahead he flashed his brights. I slowed down to 60 again and he never sped up to catch me.

I got off the freeway and they pulled up next to me. First thing out of his mouth was "wanna go from the light" i said sure. I dont know if he really tried this time, cuz off the line he was toast and just stayed back at every light so we couldnt talk lol

Then at the next light he was turning and told me he didnt try the last time cuz he knew he would lose and that he had "mad respect" for the GTO's now

Great kill, you'd think it would have been more of a challenge from a stop. Oh well, guess you never know...

Great runs.

The STi owner probably didn't launch against you off the line or he doesn't know how. Sometimes its a little scary to rev to 4-5k and drop the clutch (which is needed for a good launch).
A properly launched STi (on the street) will be 1-2 cars in front of a stock GTO off the line. By about 90mph the GTO should be catching the STi and starting to walk on by him. That's in a perfect world.
But without a good launch an STi is dead meat (stock vs stock).
Again good kill

My Brother Has an 04 STi
We went from a 3rd gear roll and same I pulled real hard on him
Went from a Dig and from the Gate he got a good 1 1/2 car lengths on me but by the end of 2nd gear I was at his front doors, 3rd then I was gone

Don't get me wrong If I hadn't bought my GOAT My second choice was a STi,
The only thing it lacks is top end power
an ECU reflash and some minor mods can fix that
That thing turns like its on rails!!!
Any way good kill Bro!!!
