I have to say I have seen a few responses on here about how a cobra , 03 or 04, is faster than a gto and I must say it should be neck and neck if you use C and D's 0-60 times. Anyone race one?
Hey Whats Up, First Time Here. I Got A 05 Gto Mods Short Shifter B&m And I Race A 2004 Svt Cobra Mods Intake And Exhaust. It Was From A 20 Mph Roll. It Was Neck And Neck And I Started Pulling From Him. Same Happen With Another Cobra Dont Know If Moded But Gto's Are Faster.

Not buying it. I've seen many more 12 second Cobra's stock than I've seen 12second GTO's stock. There will always be exceptions, but the odds are in their favor.

You may or may not believe him but I think you're missing his point. He said from a roll. Not from a dead stop. So being a 12 second car in the quarter mile means nothing. Maybe the guy in the Cobra didn't know how to shift well or drive well or maybe he did. But in either case you can't doubt the guy if you really don't know the situation. Like you said there will always be exceptions and maybe it was on that day. Any fast car can lose to a slower car on any given day. That's just racing. So if he said he beat a Cobra, then I say nice kill
Yes nice kill. One thing I've noticed is if your a good driver you can sometimes take down bigger prey. I took down a 2005 corvette in my 89 Mustang 5.0. last year. I was only pushing 345hp at the flywheel so he should have killed me but obviously he could not drive. Of course I've moved up since then
I have noticed that this thread comes up about once a month on some board. I have responded to it on a couple of occasions, but my response keeps getting shorter and shorter. I live in Santa Clarita CA, which is in North LA County. I have both cars, an '05 CGM M6 and an '04 Black Cobra M6, both are stock. We (my brother and I) have been up to Palmdale, Streets of Willow, and the 58 FWY E going to Vegas past Edwards AFB, many times to test these two cars.
Anyone familiar with these areas will know that these are what we call high desert areas North East of LA with elevations above 3,200 Ft. Both cars are in the high 12s in the 1/4 Mile and dead even. On the 58 FWY E where we do a 20 mile run from Mojave to Boron, the GTO begins a slow pull from the Cobra in 4th gear after 125 MPH at the time you get to Boron, you at about 145 you have a good 30 yards on the Snake.
If you do these runs back to back about 4-5 times the 4.6 S/C Motor begins to tire and needs to catch it breath. The power curve bears this fact out for stock cars. People often ask me which car I prefer, to tell you the truth if we are talking about driving in city traffic, and I want to get from red light to red light, and I want to feather the throttle at every red light while reminiscing about my high school and college days, it is the Cobra hands down. But once I get on the 14 FWY and I am making a run it is hands down the Goat. I usually put it this way and my bother agrees with me, the LS2 just has longer legs to run. The snake is a good sprinter for 100 yd dash, but don't ask her to do the dash too many times. The LS2 is a mid to Long Distance runner, that will take you to high speeds and stay there too. For example if you did a run to Vegas in both cars you will see what I am talking about. The Goat will reach speeds of 140+ MPH sooner and is able to sustain it longer too.
