i was out MMOB testing out my new cut outs in different driving conditions.( and got a ticket going 2 mph over the speed limit) when i get into the city of columbus ga and i see a c5 vette checking me out from a distant. i get in the left lane to past a car and i see the vette tailgating me. i hit 2nd at 50mph and it stayed with me for about 3-4 seconds til i shifted to 3rd and put 1 car on him( and his pass. i had one to) i got to about 100 with him about 3 cars back and i let off and hit brakes ( no more tickets) he filed in behind me and turned off. thats like my 10th vette kill.(no c6). BTW, last time i got a speeding ticket was in august of 1997.:bomb:i wonder how many points is that. happy driving
Going 2 MPH over the limit is only a + or - 1 MPH difference. I would have to appear and ask the Judge
if their monitoring equipment is within these specs and if the auto makers are required to have that close tolerance on speedos.
I got a 22 MPH over a few months back. That is a normal speeding ticket ($146.00 Total and 2 points)
in Jefferson County, AL. If it was over 25 MPH, I would have been excessive and I would have had to appear.
Must of been a rookie cop to pull you over for the much over.
Are you sure the C5 was racing? If you have 350rwhp, according to your profile, stock '01-'04 C5's are making around 320 rwhp, so it will take more the 30 hp to make a 37xxlb. car faster than a 32xxlb. car. Plus the aerodynamics on the Vette are a lot better than that of the GTO. So either he wasnt racing or he didnt know how to race the car. If it was a '97-'00, then I could see it more in your favor.
Are you sure? That would be about 376+ at the crank. 320rwhp/.85 (drivetrain loss for a manual)=376.47.
Even if the guy in the Vette was racing, who's to say he was a good driver?
Your right I messed up on my figures, the rwtq is around 320. The rwhp is less, around 300rwhp, but again the Vette is lighter weight with better aerodynamics. Thats also if it was a '01-'04 Vette. And I also stated that the guy in the Vette probably wasnt a good driver if he was racing and lost. But like Ive said before it always comes down to the driver no matter how much power you have.
I just got hit for a ticket in Butts county Georgia. That's Macon Georgia.
I was doing 72 mph in a 60 mph construction zone on I75. They had this 1-1/2 mile long revenue raising spot. Nobody slowed and they nailed about 8 people while I was on the side of the road. If you had Georgia plates your got a quick word from the officer. the rest of us with out of state plates got tickets.
Cop came up to me and said he pulled me for 86 in a 60 zone. I said that was impossible, I was in a group of cars and was doing the same speed as them, 72 mph. He asked if I knew I was in a construction zone and I said I didn't.
He came back and wrote the ticket up for 85 mph and not in a construction zone. I appollogized for exceeding the limit and left.
When I called to find out what the ticket would cost me, I realized the break he gave me. 86 mph was $656 bucks. 85 mph was $212. 72 mph in a construction was $186 that would then be doubled for the construction zone, so it was $372.
In Florida you can take an on-line class and wipe tickets off your record. I'll do that instaed of driving 6 hours to fight a ticket that might end up costing me more $$$$$.
i was 3 mph over as i look again. but yes the vette was racing and i beat c5's before dont know if it was auto or stick tho. i did slow down to try and talk but he turn off. we got up to 100 before i let off.
