Went back to the track last night...second time since major rebuild and first time on Mickeys. Still no race tune (maybe next week???). Lots of mustangs, cameros etc but not a single GTO to line up with. Car ran 10.982 @ 125.67 on the street tune. Car beat up on every mustang and F body out there including a GT500 that was about 2 seconds slower.
Friend took some video but left before the 10 second pass. Couple of videos anyway.
Sick run! ...Would love to feel that pwr...I just think its weird to see and hear a V8 muscle car with a turbo...I guess I should say turbos...maybe it's just me??
A very aspiring run and I would love to feel that kind of boost.
I have a hard time with V8's and turbo's too. I'm stuck in the traditionalist mode when it comes to muscle cars. I prefer not to hear the whistle, just a deep growl of engine power.
But oh boy, a quarter under 11 seconds is awesome.
Thanks for the support fellas. Trying to get race tune this week...then up the boost a lot. There are actually a few GTOs running in the low 11s and high 10s in this area. Not sure what the mods are, maybe FI? So this mustang would definitely have a contest if one of those turned up. I'm lighter but I don't have the glorious LS1 engine.
It was my mechanic Lance doing the driving. He is a veteran drag racer and I need him to feel the car under stress. This is his second time at the wheel. He is confident that with the race tune at about 20 lbs boost on C16, car will get into the low 10s. You can tell from the time pattern of these last five runs, how consistent this guy is.
If you don't mind me asking what is your full mod list?
My buddy is turboing a fully built 2001 GT and hes expecting to see 800hp and I told him he's crazy.
Unlike your car his is still SOHC and stock displacement.
His mods are:
- Turbonetics GTK 1000 & IC
- Patriot Stage 2 heads (I was against this choice)
- Crower custom cams meant for a S/C (his old setup was a 2.2 KB)
- Built bottom end Cobra crank, HD rods, lower compression pistons (8.7?)
- Full return fuel system
And of course all of the associated bolt-on's and upgrades needed.
A very reputable shop in the area has him thinking 28psi will be ok on a E85 tune and will be around 800hp.
