GTOAA - Stories/Pics?

I just got home from the GTOAA's and was surprised to see no posts in the area since February!

Anyone have pics, stories, or anything to share?

I have a ton of pics I will post them once I download them.

The Pedders seminar was very interesting, informative, and eye opening.

Jim Wangers told us the REAL reason behind how the GOAT name was derived and it was NOT from Gas Tires and Oil.

Noooo. LOL...

According to Jim Wangers... (and best I can remember from the seminar) The marketing people were looking to make a word from the initials GTO. The letter "A" appealed and was added to create a word from the Abbreviation of Grand Turismo Omologato. He then went on a long explanation of the meaning of Omologato. The adding of the letter "A" in the configuration of the letters.. spelled Goat. The name appealed. So the name Goat was born.

After his seminar I was chatting with him and told him many think the name Goat came from Gas Tires and Oil. He laughed and said noooo. I told him well now I know. He set the record straight.

Here is the story told by Paul Zazarine;

Hmmmmmm Paul sat beside Jim when Jim said that. Wangers said that at the seminar. A whole room full heard it. I think I will mention that article to Wangers and have him clarify that when I see him at the Eastern POCI meet in Sept. Interesting.....

Maybe the "A" added to the the GTO gave HIM the marketing idea and he ran with it and it stuck even after it was rejected by the brass. But he definitely said "they" were looking for a letter to add to make a name from the GTO initials and the "A" was the letter that was agreed to.
