Not Going into Gear?!

I recently bought a 2005 GTO and let me start off by saying i love this car! it runs great, it looks great, its the total package...and up til recently i havent had any problems with it but yesterday i started it up and tried to put it in reverse and it wouldnt go! I was pushing as hard as i could and i even tried feathering the clutch but no luck.It wouldnt even go into 1st or 2nd.Finally after about 5 minutes i got it to pop into 1st....then today it did the exact same thing and about five minutes later it slides right in...It acts like after it gets a little heat in it then i can get it into gear but i dnt know...and even when im driving it feels like im having to force it into the gears.... does anyone have any suggestions of whats goin on????(the car only has 4,000 miles on it too)

Welcome to the forum.

This may be a stupid question but have you checked the fluid level?
The car may have 4K on the clock but how the car was driven may be a different story. Slave cylinder could be on its way out. Could be a number of things.

Hey, I'm old and I drive my car on Sundays, but I still got a Hurst shifter, Lingenfelter CAI, etc. Old does not mean you are DEAD!

Could be a few different things, first check the fluid on the slave cylinder. You may need to replace the slave cylinder but I would have it checked at a shop before just changing it. It is possible that it is a syncro problem too. I have not had this problem on my 06, but my 96 Formula had the same trouble. It is a constant problem on the GM cars with the six t56 in it. I think some of it stems from the sloppiness of the stock shifter.
