questions about GTO performance before I buy one

OK I am curently driving a pretty modded 2000 Mustang Running low 12's in the 1/4 I am looking at some 2004 GTO's automatics. my questions are
1. what is the easiest way to get a 04 GtO into the 11's if the answer is N2o then how much of a shot can a stock GTO motor handle.
2. how reliable are these cars when you start toying with them? My stang has never let me down.
this would be my dailly driver except in snow but I do alot of highway drivinf as well so I am just looking for any opinions you guys can give me I used to drive a lt-1 trans am and have always loved Pontiacs.
thanks in advance

Never had an issue with my old 06. I'd go for the LS2, but either way you can't go wrong. Once you drive one - you're sold.

My guess is you aren't afraid to mod a car. You've probably modded the heck out of your GT to get it into the low 12's. I'm guessing that because you need to mod a Cobra to get it into the low 12's and a regular 2000 GT is running mid 14's stock. So you've added 200 wheel hp to get to where your at. That's more than just nitrous.

I'm wondering why you are looking at the 04 GTO and not the LS2 powered cars????

Here's why. An LS2 car has the potential to go high 12's stock. Throw some good DR's and drag bags for the IRS and you now have traction. Headers, heads and cam, intake and exhaust and you've now got a car that can easily run low 12's and still be reliable and a daily driver. Throw a 100 shot of nitrous on it and your into the mid 11's. Do the same mods with an 04 LS1 and your squeeking into the 11's.

You will definately enjoy the comfort and refinement of the GTO on the highway. The GTO is probably the best trip car I've ever owned. You can drive a 1000 miles a day and not be tired of being in the car. A definate improvement over your old LT1 Trans Am and your Mustang.

thanks for the time and details

Thanks a lot. Yes I am not afraid to mod a car not at all actually dont feel right if I dont mod a car the reason I was looking at the 04 is cause it has 24,000 miles on it and I can get it for $12,800 as opposed to the 05 or 06's I have seen that are going for 18G and up. I am going to go test drive a few more of them and then I think I will most likely be getting back into a Pontiac. Oh yeah I had n20 on the stang then switched over to a blower set-up and also did a ton of engine work as well.when it was S/C it was in the 11's...But I want a N/A car in the low 12's then go with a power adder and take it from there
