Shifter install - HELP!! Installing now

I am in the car right now and I am trying to install my new shifter. I can not get the center console off. What is the trick? I got the back loose, but the front is stuck. I don't want to crack anything. Can someone help? Please

There are screws under the little rubber matt under the stereo. If i remember corectly.
