thinking about a goat

Been driving my Honda Civic for the past 3 years, don't get me wrong I love it, but it is just not thrilling.

its an 06 LX with a 5 speed manual tranny and i've done a few mods to it but nothing crazy, still around 140 crank hp if i'm lucky and 33 MPG ...

I have been looking around i found an 04 silver GTO 6 speed with 29K on it for 16.9K. pretty much all 5.7l are around that 17k price and i dont care between 6.0 or 5.7 either one is going to be light years beyond my current car as long as its a 6 speed i'll be happy.

i could easily sell my car for 14K (its paid off) and i can afford to finance 3K, the question is how am i going to afford the gas (do these cars need premium?) as well as insurance..

i'm 19 with a clean record, got into a fender bender (wasn't my fault) and i'm an overall conservative driver. i feel as though i can handle the car well (meaning i can discipline my self and not end up on a tree or something) and i just want a V8, something about that rumble ya know?

what should i look out for? any serious recalls on certain years? how much does every one pay for insurance? are these cars easy to work on? what are standard mods and reliable brands? cost for bolt ons? (i probably wont go FI with one of these, nearly 400 hp to begin with) where to buy parts? i want to open her up and let her sing!!

CONVINCE ME!!

Im 18 and I just bought an 06 for myself. For insurance purposes, my moms name is on the title of the car so instead of paying 400 a month i pay 120 a month for insurance. GTOs take premium and your lucky to get around 18mpg average.

Now to convince you...GTOs are miles faster then your econobox civic. My GTO was a HUGH upgrade from my GTP in terms of performance and luxury.

if you want to go fast get one. If your concerned about getting good gas mileage, this may not be the choice for you.
