Wife's car versus my GTO

Guys,

I am wondering, I know FWD is better in the snow, black ice, etc etc.

My wife has a Toyota Matrix, FWD, with no traction control.

Our GTO is RWD, with a great traction control...

Is my FWD Toyota still infinetly better in the snow, even without traction control?

We have previously owned 2 Pontiac Vibes... One was an automatic, and one was the GT with the 6-speed.

They weren't all that great in the snow - but were better than the GTO.

More ground clearance on the Vibe was helpful, and the tires were 215's, so they sunk down through the snow to find pavement faster.

IMO - the GTO's TC doesn't help at all in the snow. You're better off with the Matrix.

That said - I drive my GTO year-round on the stock tires... But if we have more than 3-4" of snow, I'll be borrowing the wife's minivan for sure.

Good Luck

yeah the vibe/matrix are pretty decent cars...I haven't driven the GTO in the snow yet because this is my garage queen! LOL...That being said, I am probably going to get a winter beater anyways, probably like an Olds 88 LSS or something

FWD is NOT better on ice, black or otherwise. Quite the contrary, it is more dangerous. FWD is better in snow than RWD. The most dangerous thing on snow or ice is the driver, especially one who thinks they can go anywhere and do anything with their 4WD SUV.
