05 Oil Pump

Just got bad news form the dealership...My 2005 with a little over 5100 miles has a bad oil pump and was not pushing oil to the top end of the motor. The dealer said if their were any metal pieces in the oil pan, they may need to redo the entire top end of the moter. Has anybody else had this problem, the service department says this is the first they have heard of an oil pump going bad at that low milage on a LS2

I replaced the oil pump in my 04 when I put the cam in it, it's a big pain in the ass on your back in your garage..... I haven't heard of anyone having issues with their oil pumps.....
