1964 Gto

Hello everyone,
I'm Ronald from New Orleans and just bought a 1964 GTO that's been sitting in a shop for 15 years! Just drove her home Thursday and can't wait to spend the weekend with her. The previous owner bought her from a man that drove it in from California 15 years ago. Odometer shows 158,000 and was supposedly rebuilt at 142,000 miles. She is a 4 barrell, automatic on the floor car. It is primed and ready to paint. Running a little rough, won't idle until it warms up and hesitates when pressing the throttle, but other than that doesn't smoke and sounds strong. He told me the carb has been rebuilt, but I don't know how long ago. Drained all the old fuel out, replaced inline filter and added fresh fuel but problem persist. Will work on her this weekend and try to figure out what's going on. Been wanting one since I was 12. Can't believe I found her.Got the PHS documents and it is a California car sold at Mike Salta Pontiac in Sacramento, California. Will post pictures when I figure out how.

Nice, congrats and welcome to the forums!
Check the accelerator pump to be sure the carb is squirting fuel in every time you pump the throttle. Should be an easy fix.

Hey Ronald and welcome to the forum,

You may be able to adjust the choke and fix the cold idle problem, hopefully, a 64 or 65 is my next project.

Thanks, It seems like the accelerator pump is bad on the carb. It is a Carter AFB. I have to rapidly pump the throttle to get it started. Idles okay but hesitates and kills when trying to move the car. When I shut it off and open the throttle, there is no spray. I'm going to pull it off and have someone rebuild it if I can find a shop that still does that. Some day I'm going to go with the Tri-Power setup. Already bought the manifold on E-Bay, trying to save up for the carbs. But first I want to finish the body work and have her painted.
