1964 Tempest

I know that a 64 Tempest is not a GTO but there are a lot of things in common. Am I welcome here to ask Tempest questions?

Well Phil, a Tempest may not be a GTO, but, in truth, there would be no GTO without the Tempest! So, we should be indebted to you!

Thanks for the welcome. Here are a couple of pics of my '64 Tempest (actually it is my wife's). Just took it out of a prolonged storage. We purchased this car in about 1980 from the daughter of the first owner. It appears that someone attached GTO emblems (including on the dash) but by the style number it is clearly a 'Tempest Custom Sports Coupe' (Style 64-2127). The car has significant rust issues but it has been in the family so long that I can't part with it. Engine is 326 ci with Auto Trans.

HI Phil,

Looks like a real good project if i was you and your going to resotre her i would have her SODA BLASTED best thing to clean her up for boday and paint work to see what you have going on.I restore gto's on the side and mopars also and i do this with my cars because it works and safe and clean up is a breeze and doesnt warp metal like sandblasting does.Any questions email me at
