Hi everyone,
I have a 67 GTO which I have owned for about 3 years now. I have been an ASE Certified Master Tech for about 16 years and am now in sales for about the past 4 1/2 years, selling tools and equipment to automotive shops and personnel. I have several customers into old GTO's and restoration, but there are times when we still bang our heads on things. I grit my teeth on fuel injection and C3 systems, so some performance tuning on early carb systems and distributor curves can pose some reading and second guessing. I am always open to suggestions and hope I can learn from those who have been there and help those who have not. Great to be here and hope we can all enjoy the greatest hobby of all, the American Muscle Car!!!
The biggest problem I see today is, old carbs not set-up to run on ethonal laced gasoline. Especially the accelerator pumps. The ethonal will distory the old rubber based seals.

Hey Kicks,
I haven't heard a lot of cars with problems, though carburetors in the shops is a rare occurance anymore, but my small engine shops are making a killing replacing in line fuel lines and rebuilding carbs. The ethenol is swelling the plastic and sticking choke flaps on equipment. I have an 05 Z-71 with an E85 system. My fuel mileage dropped from approx. 18.5 mpg with the 5.3 to about 16 mpg with the premium fuel. I stopped at an E85 station and fueled with ethenol when I found out there was one opened close, and I dropped to about 12 mpg. Not much of a benefit to save $0.35/gal. It took 3 tanks to get my economy back to where it was. Ethenol claims approx. 110 octane, but the only difference I noticed was the suet on my tailpipe.
