On my way to look at at CTS...

I bought a 04 GTO. I really only started thinking about one in the last couple days. Saturday I went out to look at a couple GTO's, and a couple CTS's - neither of which had a driven before. The first place I stopped had an 04 in Blue w/ blue leather interior - auto transmission (there was only one 6 spd in the metro.) Long story short I traded in my 06 Cobalt SS (which I really liked) for the Blue GTO.

Any problem areas I should be aware of?

What are the first typical mods people are doing?

Thanks,

- w

Pickin,

I have not even looked at the intake setup. On most stock cars you s/b able to pick up about 2-3% increase. I did a dyno's on a Protege5 I had, and a short ram intake made a solid 3% increase in hp, and some in torque as well. But that was a Protege5 - this is s GTO.

When I get some time I'll look for before/after dyno runs.

I would like to see some info if ya find some. Like I said, it's not that CAIs dont work it's that I have never seen any proof.

Pickin,

Hey. I looked at aempower.com. They have before/after dyno's on their intake on a 04 GTO. From past experience their numbers seem to be pretty accurate. Some manufacturers inflate their numbers - but I think AEM is pretty realistic. Check em out. I would think other manufactures would be pretty close to AEM. Off the top of my head I think they listed numbers that adjusted to "crank" hp would be 364 hp from a base of 350. The engine will definately be loader - but not abnoxious. I put CAI's on two other cars. They don't make as much noise as a performance exhaust - but they do make the engine loader - espeacially on acceleration.

I will give you that, they sound pretty cool. AEM may be reliable, but if they told you that there was no increase you would not buy the intake. I think I will stick with my K&N drop in filter.

Pickin,

Oh Yeah. You will get a bump from the K&N - that will free up the flow.
