Before you buy an 06 GTO read this

I just had an unbelieveable experience buying an 06 GTO. I dealt with a guy named Gene the new car sales manager at Jeff wyler pontiac buick gmc in alexandria ky. The website should show up on a search engine, I dont know it off hand. He sold me the car for what 4 other dealers in the area said "no way I can do that". I strongly recommend that you notify Gene with any intentions on buying an 06 GTO no matter what state you are in. Tell him Jimmy V. sent you and post your results here. If you have any questions for me, please post them here also.

Just a comparison, Ive had a 99 00 and 02 Trans am, two firehawks and one WS6. I averaged 8 hours in the dealership for 2 days on each purchase to get the deal similar to the one I got today, and only spent about 2 hours to negotiate a price and sign the paperwork.

Mind if I may ask what they let the car go for?

I got the car for the gm supplier price, but due to negative equity in my car, they put some more money towards it to lower my payments. Lets just say that the best deal I got at 4 other pontiac dealers was almost $50 more per month than what I got it for with him. My payments on the 36 month lease and 15 K a year is between 500 and 550 a month. If you do a lease on edmunds you will find a very close approximation.

I'm glad people are having positive dealings with pontiac. LAtely, they've been rated lowest of customer service surveys. Interesting. More people should post up good notes.

As far as the $50+ on the payment, here's a neat trick: The car dealer never actually has your payments set in stone. they let you fill out the app, take it to the finance guy, who looks in his qualification notes for a certain loan, and "ballparks" the payment to you.

USUALLY the bank actually buys the car at a lower % rate (like 1.25 instead of 5.5% for instance) and the dealer KEEPS the additional profit from that sale, and the bank adjusts its paperwork to fit. It's called a back door deal. Happens almost every time someone buys a car.

Other than that, I'm glad to hear that someone is having an easy time with pontiac dealers. I'm rather displeased with the guys around here. All of them have tried to get me with the bait and switch (I'm looking for a very exact GTO for our second one), or had astronomical prices and mark-ups, or some other song and dance....

Don't ya love buying cars?

Is it possible for people to be more specific? It would greatly help others if they know what everyone is paying a month , how much down, and the buy out price.

I am paying 376 a month, 1500 down and the buyout is 16300. I also get free oil changes which based on the dealer price is $75 that is equal to $25 a month.

Mumrah...Wow, that seems like a great deal im guessing its an 05? I went to a few other dealers and the average was $560/month for a 39 month lease and 12000 miles a year on an 06M. The biggest factor for me was that I had about $3000 negative equity on my trade in which does not residualize in a lease. The $560/month didnt even include that negative equity. I dont know what that new car manager was thinking???

Ive learned that going straight to the new car manager instead of the car salesman works best for me. Before my negative equity was taken into consideration, I got the car for around $29k. My payment was going to be $500.89/month for 36months and 12K a year. That was before my gmcard and another $1500 the dealer gave me. After I broke the news of my trade-in, the price skyrocketed to $590/month. So after everything was over I put down $1300 and got a 36 month 15K year lease for $520/month with a $17400residual. That of course includes the extremely high sales tax of $2400.

Any one else lease an 06? Without the negative equity on my car Im guessing I shouldve been mid $400's on a 36 month 15k year lease.
