Might be selling '06 M6

Thinking seriously about selling my 2006 GTO...
  • 2006 Torrid Red (the fastest ones)
  • Black interior
  • Manual 6-speed
  • 18" wheels
  • Build date 02/06
  • Bone stock-no mods
  • 4021 pampered miles. I broke it in properly as per the manual. 90% of mileage is on the interstate-- absolutely has not been ragged on (I cant afford to tear my stuff up)
  • Adult driven, never smoked in or eaten in--Nobody but me has ever driven this car since I bought it
  • Garaged since 1st day of ownership
  • Original tires in their original locations, barked the rears a couple times, never any burnouts
  • Extended waranty - 60 months/75000 miles
  • Purchased new on 6/30/06
  • Serviced w/ Mobile1 at 976 miles on 8/9/06
  • No oil usage that I can tell. A little over 3000 miles since 1st service, still dead-on "FULL", never added any oil. I check it religiously. Car will be serviced again before selling/trading.
  • Driver's side front strut replaced at 1386 miles on 8/25/06
  • NO leaks/squeaks/drips/rattles/electrical gremlins
  • North Alabama area - Never seen salt/snow, been caught in some rain twice.
  • One small chip on lower front facia in front of driver's side wheel (I guess that happened on the interstate)

I love this car. But my daughter graduates this year and has been accepted into several colleges, and her top pick is in Australia of all places. Which means I'm going to be a broke SOB and some toys have got to go. Along with other unnecessary luxuries like, food, electricity, running water, etc. My screen name will be changing from Kegbelly to Skeletor within a year.

So...what's my car realistically worth?

KBB lists private-party value at $29,005, trade-in at $26050. I bought it at GMS price and 0%, but the extended warranty cost an additional $1948, and I financed every dime of the whole purchase price. I know the resale on these cars has gone headfirst into the crapper, but can I expect to get $28000 out of it? Maybe not here, but out in the real world? I owe a good bit more than than on it. Please don't tell me about the dealer you heard about selling them brand new for $23000 and a lifetime supply of gas, I've read all those posts too.

Anyone interested?

sounds like just what i'm looking for....but??

looking for a perfect/low miles/M6/18" GTO in torrid or brazen...but i'm in NY & can buy new for $28k....the warranty is interesting, but the cost to ship is the real down-side....unfortunately, used '06 goats seem to be SELLING(not asking) for under $26k....

I bought a car in Michigan a couple years ago and had it shipped to my driveway in AL for $650. It was a hassle though, trying to make sure someone was there on the other end when they picked it up. But I couldn't buy my gas up there and back and rent a trailer or hauler for less than that.

If you can buy new for 28K and do it local, that's probably what I would do. Bear in mind the extended warranty added 2k to the price. It is transferrable, btw.

  • Update: car now has 5738 miles
  • Still looks & smells like new
  • K&N flat panel air filter at 4187 miles
  • Royal Purple transmission & rear differential fluid at 4187 miles
  • Drove car to Florida the day after trans & diff fluid change, averaged 25mpg at 80+ mph
Will take $26000 OBO. Don't forget the extended warranty (that added over $2k to purchase price). I really hate to sell it but I really need to... daughter starts college in three weeks, have to make some serious concessions in the budget. PM me if interested.

Bought my car new from dealer 06 Spice Red with 18" wheels in July for out the door price of $26,200...

I think the price keeps dropping as there are a few still left on the dealer lots.

Endre

sorry you have to give up the car for the kid. i have a, 06, brazen, 6M, GM special event vechicle, not released till 4/07, only other owner WAS GM (i have a copy of the orginal pink slip to help 30+ years with barret-jackson to maybe help push up the value, when/if i sell it). the dealer w/ "make up" was 26,400 OTD 29,100, it all depends on how badly u want to "get rid ot it". but cash does talk.
