Hey guys. Here are some pics of my car so far. All the bondo has been taken out and metal has been put back. Just waiting on the roof and package tray assembly. It seems like there were clips for a speaker in the back area, but I'm unsure if it came stock that way? If equipped with an AM radio, was it stock to have a back speaker? Or was it only in the front?
Anyways, here are some pics. As soon as the roof arrives (any day), then it's smooth sailing. Just waiting on parts i.e. bushings, gaskets, etc.
Hey,
Rukee, I decided on going Starlight Black. It'll look good with the redline tires. The drivetrain was all redone before I bought it. Matching numbers 400 with matching numbers HO transmission. Also rear end rebuilt. Still looking for a 3.36 ring and pinion used set. That is why I got it so cheap because the customer couldn't pay the bill for the work on the motor. Should I consider getting a stock intake manifold with Rochester carb? They upgraded it to some nice Edelbrock carb and intake manifold.
It's really not that much of a project except for the roof. Does anyone know if a Cutlass metal package tray and brackets is the same on a GTO? If it wasn't for the roof, it wouldn't be that much work. I was going to take my time on the interior, but now I need new headliner, and since they gutted the inside, I might as well get the new carpet, dash pad, and bezel refurbished. It's the chrome that's the problem. Very expensive. Oh well....

Linda, I have the same Edelbrock intake/carb set-up on my 67 and it works well. In my opinion, I wouldn't mess with it. Good luck with the rest of the resto.
linda i applaud you on all the effort you paying to have done to your car
not many ladies would go even a fraction of this much
i notice in your pics theres lots of bare metal spots showing ,,is your bodyman metal prepping it right before he primers it?
i know back in 76 when i did mine i had bare metal showing for a couple days and didnt use a rust inhibitor and the paint went to pot after a few years
of course since you have an old school bodyman im sure he is prepping it but was just curious
Hi Linda. Your car with an AM radio would have just a single front speaker. Nothing in the rear UNLESS there is a chrome knob on your dash that says "reverb". If that's the case, then yes, it had a rear reverb (sounds like an echo chamber, weird) speaker. If it runs fine, I would not mess with the intake/carb at this stage. In the future, if you locate the correct intake and carb (1967 ONLY, $$$), you may want to upgrade it back to stock. Good luck with the project......you're doing it right the first time, which in the long run is the cheapest and best way to do it.
