material for roof

Hey guys,
We're doing the ospho on the new roof and it needs the new insulation or body shutz? Is that correct? Is this what you guys recommend to insulate the roof between the skin and the supports?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello,

Here are several from OPGI, the High Performance Jute may be the best one.

Just to make myself more clear, this is the material attached to the skin, not the headliner insulation.....there is some original stuff on the replacement roof and it's so old, I can't tell what it is.. Dynamat was an option made by my body guy, but what was the original stuff used and should I go with something more modern? I heard of Body Shutz that actually hardens to make the roof stiff?

The original sound deadner was attached to the skin and was a paper/cardboard substance. I would follow your body guys recomendation and go with dynamat or another adhesive Jute material. The 3M Body Shutz may also be a good product, I used the 3M paintable undercoating all over my car and was very pleased with the end result.

I tried another spray-on deadner called Lizard Skin and sent it back to the supplier. It is very expensive and almost impossible to apply using their spray gun, when I called into the Lizard Skin company with the problem their technical guy was a total jerk.

If you can afford it, definitely go with the Dyna Mat. It is superior to jute in every way: sound deadener, thermal insulation, ease of installation, and durability. If I EVER do the headliner in my '65 again, you can bet I'll Dynamat the roof!!!! Just my 2 cents!

Hi. Went to look at the roof today. We've decided to go with "dum dum" on the supports and dynamat on the skin. Just waiting for that stupid package tray so we can get the roof on. Then it's just sanding.......instrument cluster came out today. As soon as the floor boards are ospho'd and sealed and the package tray is done, we'll be painting the dash and the doors. Can anyone recommend which vendor has the best door panels? I figured I'd just replace them. Might as well. Come this far.
