The Fleet

Well I've changed the make-up of my fleet over the last month and a half. I'm no longer with my now ex-girlfriend so her Vette Convertible and the Volvo S-40 are gone. I couldn't stand just driving the Cavalier so things have really changed.

The Cavalier is now at 66,000 miles. I've put 29,000 miles on it since October 2007. It still runs the 40 miles each way back and forth to work. I tried to trade it in and they offered me $2200 for it, so I just kept it.

I've added a Silver 2005 C5 with Nav, Z-51, 6 speed manual and the 3LT option group. The car has 14,500 miles on it and I got it for a steal, 29,200 plus tax and title.

I also just bought a White Saturn Sky Redline this Friday. I got it with 0% for 72 months and the dealer took $2500 off the price. I'm not quite sure why I bought the Sky, I guess I just drove it and liked it. It gets worse gas mileage than the Vette and isn't as fast and doesn't handle as well, so the purchase makes no sense other than I wanted it. I pulled in to the dealership in the Cavalier to look at it and it was pretty funny. The dealer had 3 silver Cavalier coupes, a 2003, a 2004 and a 2005 and told me almost immediately that he didn't want my car on trade. I told him for me to not trade it in he would have to give me a great deal on the Sky which he did.

I also bought a White 2009 Jetta SE TDI. I bought it to replace the Cavalier in the back and forth to work department, and now I'm still driving the Cavalier. There's another I just don't don't know why I did it one, but it's a real nice car. A bit underpowered, but the mileage is great. I made a trip to Ft. Lauderdale this weekend and at 75 mph on the turnpike averaged 45 mpg. The Cavalier gets 35 highway and is getting 31 running back and forth to work. The TDI got 39 the one week I used it to go back and forth. With diesel being 20% higher than gas it's just about a wash between the two for cost.

Lastly I bought a 2004 Dodge Hemi regular cab short bed pick-up. It has 55,000 miles on it and it's an SLT with all the options, chrome wheels, PW, PL cruise, tilt, nice sound system and such. It also has an exhaust, I'm not sure which brand though. It sounds great. Again it was a steal and that's the only reason I bought it. I paid 6500 out the door which works out to just under 6000 for it. They were asking 7995 for it. It has new tires and looks like it's in great shape. My guess is someone couldn't afford the gas and these dealers are giving nothing for trade ins on trucks right now. I'm looking to buy a boat and the truck will be needed then. The Ford dealer that had the Vette also had this one and I bought both at the same time.

If you have the cash there are just way to many good deals right now.

Now I just need to find a hobby other than buying cars. LOL.

Wow, where to start...

That is one hell of a hobby fergy. So now all in all, you got 3 new cars, and the same cavalier you've had. To almost all, I would say what the hell are you thinking throwing money away, haha but I guess you liked the cars and were'nt too tight in the wallet. Enjoy the hell out of all of them, now.... what kind of boat are we looking for!!

Retail therapy Fergyflyer? Congratulations on the numerous purchases.

Remember, you can only drive one at a time.

I don’t believe I have ever read thread quite like this…

She must have been one heck of a girl that it takes three new cars to make up for her loss.
Let`s face it, you can`t afford another GF.

It's 3 cars and a truck.

I don't need another GF, I think my insurance agent is in love with me now. I now have a pretty good idea how it feels to get....... well you know, used and abused.

All said and done I paid cash for three of them and the one that's financed is at 0% intrest for 72 months.

Look at it this way, the C6 is to make up for the loss of the C5. The Jetta is to make up for the loss of the S40. The truck was bought to tow a boat that will attract the replacement GF and the Sky is ........................... Man I'm still not sure why I bought that car. What was I thinking???????

Fergy,
Good luck with the fleet..... you've almost got 1 for each day of the week. BTW, is your insurance agent providing a volume discount?

I've made some more changes.

I have a friend in Pennsylvania that liked the Sky he bought it from me. I liked the car, but it really didn't make sense with the Vette. Lost 3500 there.

I sold the Dodge truck too. I got 8300 for it. I made 1800 off of it.

I have the Cavalier up for sale for $4900 hoping for $4000.

That will leave me with the Jetta TDI and the C6 and no car payments.

I bought a Yamaha FX SHO (Super High Output). It's faster 0-30 than a Corvette Z06. It has a 1.8 liter supercharged engine. It is the most powerfull and largest motor on a personal watercraft. It has cruise control, No wake speed moduation, tilt steering, Nano technology hull that is lighter and stronger, quickshift trim for improved handling, an 18.5 gallon fuel tank with a range of 125 miles, and it's capable of almost 80mph. List was 11,999 and I got it for 10,200, so even boat people are agressive with their pricing right now.

I'm considering ordering a Cobalt SS turbo, but for now the fleet is just right with the C6, the high efficiency Jetta and the Z06 of personal watercraft. I hear that Harley's aren't selling well. Maybe..................
