Need to transport my 1968 GTO from northern WI to San Diego.... Any Recommendations?

Hi all, I'm new to the forum. My cousin died seven years ago and his wife was finally willing to part with his 1968 GTO. I need to transport the car from Superior, Wisconsin to San Diego, California. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good transport company that will take excellent care of the car in transit?

There are any number of "Shipping Companies" out there, BUT some "Shipping Companies" are just front companies that sub-contract with some low-bid trucker. Just because I had a good experience with XYZ Transport doesn't mean that XYZ Transport will use the same sub-contractor for your Goat. Word-of-mouth may work, but you'll need to do some legwork to make sure the actual carrier is licensed, bonded, insured, etc., uses an enclosed trailer, and the driver knows the routes he'll use -- you don't want the driver getting lost on some mountain road and ending up with the trailer in the bottom of a ravine.

"Honest Honey, it just kinda followed me home, can I keep it?"

I just had my convertible shipped from OK to No.CA and ended up using Reliable Carriers. They were the only ones I found that had all their own trucks so the could quote me a price and there were no surprises when it got here. They haul for Barret Jacksons and all the exquisite car shows around the country. All the rest were brokers and not the drivers themselves. What they quote is NOT necessarily what the drivers will charge you when your car arrives. Also, all their trucks are enclosed and I wanted that for my convertible. They arrived ahead of schedule and all went very well. The downside, I guess, is that they were the most expensive.

Thanks to you both for your suggestions. Are you willing to share the cost for shipping for OK to Niryhetn California with the carrier you used? Just trying to get an idea of what I'm in for. Thank you in advance.
