You can find the casting and date codes on the distributor pad and the engine letter code is on the front of the block under the passenger side head. The head code is cast on the center exhaust ports just above the manifold.

It's hard to prove the original engine on a 64 because that's before Pontiac started stamping the partial VIN on the blocks. Best you can to is to look up all the codes as 05GTO suggested and see if the date codes are "reasonable" for when your car was built and also are the correct casting and engine codes for what's supposed to be in the car. Having the PHS doc can help nail all that down.

Stamped vertically next to the timing chain cover on the passengers side of blocks built after mid-year 1967.
