1965 LeMans starter heat shield ??

Iím finishing up a starter replacement for a Ď65 automatic lemans. There is a somewhat ďtriangularĒ shield that Iím almost positive came off when i took off the old starter.

To my disappointment I didnít take photos. And it took me a few months before I could get the new starter back in. Needless to say, I donít remember how it went back on.

Itís roughly 8Ē x 3Ē at its widest points.

Does someone have a photo of the underneath of their car with the starter in view to possiblely figure out how and exactly where this goes?

Any other thoughts would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Is the shield shown below what you have?

If so, this is commonly mistakenly referred to as a starter shield.
However it is a linkage shield and bolts to frame as shown.

If this isn't it then disregard and post a pic if you can.
Cheers

Solenoid Heat Problem

I have a 68 GTO which had what I learned to be a fairly common problem of not restarting after running for a while. I tried replacing the heat shield to no avail. What finally fixed the problem permanently was replacing the starter with, as I recall, a new high-torque mini starter. I'm traveling on business so I don't have my file with the details to tell you exactly what it was, but I think it's fairly straightforward.
