225/60's are too small, the oem G60x15 Polyglas GT's are equivalent in height to a 245/60R15. not sure what's out there todayin a 245/60-15.
Having purchased & installed a ton of 255/60R15's, they fit propperly (the tread doesn't rollover) on an 8" wide wheel, have never liked using 255's on a 7" rallyII.
If your '71 GTO has factory firm ride Y96 suspension, it will set aprox an 1" higher than a standard '71 GTO, & if the springs are in good shape & have the body setting up, you most likely are going to want to fill up the wheelwell versus leave a big gap. Front & rear rocker height to ground as well as spring condition, are something to investigate.
