What do you have now, vacuum operated? I don't think there should be a problem running mechanical. Had a set on my brother's '68 Bonneville w/TH400 & 2.56 posi when we were kids, no problem encountered.

I've run a '66 mechanical linkage unit on my '67 GTO with a TH400 in the past. Worked great. What do you want to know?

There you go, geeteeohguy has spoken. Just rebuild the carbs using a good contemporary carb kit that has the gaskets and needle and seat that will work with ethanol blended gas. Also replace any old rubber gas lines -to include the one at the tank - as ethanol WILL deteriorate them and you don't need a gas leak or fire.

Isn't the kick down switch inside at the gas peddle? If so you should be good to go. Be sure to check the floats real good too. Also check the outside carbs base plates and throttle blades, I've seen them rust and pits can cause air leaks. Those need to seal completely at idle. The linkage can be tricky, some people think it goes one, two, three. But it's the center carb and then both outside carbs at the same time. You may need to bend the link on the passenger side to get those two to work the same.
