428 oil pressure

I have had a '66 GTO with a '67 428 engine for the last three years. It's a dream to drive. Only bummer is that the driving season is so short up here. I finally decided I was tired of idiot lights and installed a three guage cluster (oil, temp, and volts) under the dash. Now it has dawned on me that I'm not sure what the oil pressure should be. Thanks.

What's it showing now? To be valid, you should make sure the motor's completely warmed up, and has been warmed up for at least 10-15 minutes (takes longer to get the oil warm than it does the coolant).
Oil pressure is going to be lower at idle than it is at 2000 rpm up. It's also going to vary depending on the viscosity of the oil you're using. As long as you've got, oh say 15-20 or so at idle and 40-60 at rpm, you ought to be ok.

Thanks Bear. It shows 20 at idle and 50 cruising.
