68/69 heater re-fit?

Hello Guys.
Will soon be putting the under-dash stuff back in the car after sound-proofing the bulkhead and floor.
Are sealing kits/ gaskets really necessary for the heater box or is silicone or PU product good enough do to DIY?

Heater is an A/c unit but will be using a delete box in the engine bay.

All helpful tips welcomed.
