Antenna mast to Post Connection

Hello, I have what I hope is a dumb question! I have a 68 GTO, however the antenna may be an aftermarket. The mast is an oval shape and it slides nicely onto the post, which is about 1 inch. The problem is that it does not attach hard to it, I was wondering, does anybody know, how the mast stays attached to the post? Iím thinking of a small spot weld, but feel like Iím missing something. Thanks!

My '66 is the same as yours (oval and slips on easily). So far it works fine and has never come off.

Thanks - I was worried that it would come off easily in the breeze - maybe a quick braze point (I don't want to tarnish it from the heat though), or even, get this, some "JB weld" up in the mast just to hold it in place. Thanks!

I don't think that JB Weld is the answer, as it might destroy the electrical connection between the mast components.
