TK, That is an "aftermarket" hole. Usually installed for a switch, OR a manual choke cable. Funny, there was one in my car also!! Eric

why would a manual choke need a cable.
always thought it was bi metal/heat activated
scratches head

A choke is often controlled by a driver adjustable cable when an electric choke is not used. A choke you refer to is another story.

Manual= hand operated...automatic= bimetal or electric......
