My 69 Factory Service Manual says 4 1/8 pounds (if you're filling by weight from a large drum) or 4 1/3 cans (if you're filling from individual disposable cans of R-12) plus 11 ozs. of oil. I've also got oil re-fill specs for any individual components you may have replaced if you need that. If you haven't replaced anything, then you shouldn't need to add any oil.

According to the 67 Service manual....3 3/4 lbs for Tempest series. 4 1/8 lbs for fullsize Pontiacs. That is after evacuating the system and vacuuming it down.
