Lookin for dad's first car 1968 gto

I am looking for my Dad's old car. I have the VIN but most databases only go back to 1980. The last known title of the car was in Iowa, but the last known location was Oklahoma. I know it could be anywhere by now but any advice how to locate?

A big part of this equation is WHEN the car was sold. If the car was sold from the mid-late '80's on up, it's probably still with us. GTO's were starting to get collectable and were no longer being discarded by then. If the car was sold in the '60's thru the early '80's, the chances of it still being around are very very slim.

Can you tell us the VIN? If it is 242378P276703, I know where it's at right now. Matt

I would recommend that you post the VIN number to this thread, if someone does a google search for that VIN they will be directed to this forum.
