m21 4 Spd muncie in a 64 lemans with a 400?

I have a 64 lemans i just picked up with a 400 auto tranny. I want to replace it with a manual tranny. Would a Muncie M21 work and how difficult would it be to install? Help pls!

Not difficult to install, just lots of parts to install. You will need pedals, the frame bracket that the z bar actuates on, it will need to be welded to frame. Then the following:
Clutch rod
Return springs
Shifter porch
Your engine needs to accept a pivot ball for the z bar
various clips

Ames is a good source, the best is find a donor car, or look on ebay.
All the above is given you want to make it look original. Hope it helps.

Cool thank you. How about the actual mounting of the transmission. Will I need to modify anything on the frame?

When they put in the 400 they moved the cross member back around 6 inch's for the longer length of it which means they used a 400 drive shaft or shorted the original. Maybe it's a 350 and not a 400 cause that would be the correct length. Good Luck, Les
